28.10.2025

Environmentalist Mariia Lopushanska from Eco-Optima passed the selection procedure and took part in the 12th internship programme ‘Renewable Energy Sources and Community Energy’ organised by the Czech environmental foundation Nadace Partnerství.

The internship focused on studying the development of renewable energy and the implementation of energy-efficient solutions in communities and companies in the Czech Republic and Austria.

The programme included information on best practices for implementing energy-efficient solutions in local businesses. The participants learned about the principles of sustainable development in operation, using the example of Sonnentor, a company specialising in the production of teas, spices and herbal products from organic materials. These principles include the use of renewable energy sources, eco-friendly packaging and the organisation of transparent cooperation with farmers.

At the Vienna office, Andreas Beckmann, Regional CEO, WWF Central and Eastern Europe, presented the activities of the World Wide Fund (WWF) in an interesting and informative way. And how to organise a ‘Smart Village’ in a community was demonstrated in Stanz im Murtal (Austria).

Also in Austria, participants studied the experience of ÖKOENERGIE, a company that has been operating in the renewable energy sector since 1995, making it one of the leaders in the Austrian energy market. Today, ÖKOENERGIE demonstrates the highest level of expertise and competence and has been awarded the Green Brand certification mark for particularly sustainable companies.

The internship ended with a topical case study: a presentation of the activities of the South Moravian Agency for Public Innovation (JIMEG). The South Moravian Region is developing community energy and supporting the efficient use of green electricity. The South Moravian Region Energy Community project will enable households, businesses and communities to reduce their energy costs and increase the share of locally produced renewable electricity.

See you at the next expert meetings!
