On 31 March 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between RAG Austria AG and Eco-Optima LLC at the Ukrainian-Austrian Economic Forum. This strategic document opens up new horizons for Eco-Optima for the production of green hydrogen as part of the H2EU+Store project. The project involves a networked international industrial partnership initiated by RAG Austria AG to scale up the green hydrogen market in Central Europe.
According to the phased plan until 2050, Ukraine has been identified as a priority partner. In the production of green hydrogen, electricity is generated from renewable sources. This part of the project is Eco-Optima's responsibility. Further, hydrogen will be supplied to the international gas transmission network in Ukraine and transported through the gas pipeline systems of Slovakia and Austria to the storage facilities of RAG Austria AG.
"This infrastructure project is essential for securing the future energy supply in Austria and Germany and the whole of Central Europe," said Markus Mitteregger, CEO of RAG Austria AG.
Günter Bauer, Managing Director of Bayerngas GmbH, stressed that Germany has approved the country's hydrogen strategy and is extremely interested in this project. And the H2EU+Store demonstrates the possibility of supplying clean hydrogen, including across borders.
"Eco-Optima expresses confidence in the implementation of the project. Our facilities generate electricity and are connected to the power grid, geographically well located near the border, so they logically fit into the hydrogen corridor. Our company and Ukraine as a whole understand the responsibility for strengthening the energy security of our country and Europe," said Zinoviy Kozytskyi, founder of Eco-Optima LLC.
