"What will Ukraine's energy sector look like in 2025?"

05.05.2025

Over 300 participants from different sectors (business, government, academia and the public) presented their expert visions at the discussion panel "What will the energy sector of Ukraine look like in 2025?". The event was organised by the UN Global Compact Network Ukraine in cooperation with EXPRO Electricity.

Yurii Fedak, Deputy Director of Development at Eco-Optima Group, shared his opinion on the prospects and threats. He emphasised that 2022 was the moment of truth for the entire energy system of Ukraine, as a full-scale war and attacks on infrastructure exposed the vulnerability of centralised supply models. Therefore, the key today is to move to decentralised, manoeuvrable solutions, including microgrid systems and local generation and storage sources, which will ensure rapid response and increased resilience in crisis situations. Yurii Fedak highlighted that Eco-Optima Group is already implementing such solutions in its projects, adapting them to new realities and expanding its horizons.

The participants stressed that 2025 is a critical year for the Ukrainian energy sector and summarised the need for decentralised generation, transparent and stable regulatory conditions, synergy between business and consumers, creating conditions for the development of hydrogen technologies and effective integration of renewable energy sources.

Building energy independence together!
